River, Harbour & Sea

What to do on your holiday

Kingswear Castle

The historic paddle steamer Kingswear Castle is the last remaining coal-fired paddle steamer in operation in the UK today and is running on her home waters of the River Dart once more. She runs Dartmouth River Cruises and cruises between Dartmouth and Totnes so that passengers can now journey on her as part of the famous Round Robin excursion.

The Castle Ferry

The famously beautiful Dart Estuary should really be enjoyed from a boat and the Castle Ferry with its traditional open launches is one of the best and simplest ways of getting close to the water – an authentic Dartmouth treat. There is a good chance you may see one of our resident grey seals or even a leaping Dart salmon and we will try to point out other rarities as we go!

Self-steer hire boats have been operating from this location for around 50 years and have afforded thousands of people every year the opportunity to explore the beautiful river Dart at their own pace, as if it were there own boat. Our boats are available to hire for 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours and 6 hours during the day time, and available to hire after 6pm by the hour.

Get a group together to hire your own canoe, or multiple canoes, for your own river adventure.
